Northwest Station

Northwest Station, F, Carpenter Street

This station was significant in that it was the early station defining of Chicago's northwest side. As such it defines a southeasternmost geographic node on the Northwest side map. Opened in 1871, the location on Milwaukee Avenue near Carpenter Street south of Goose Island probably changed locations a few times. The station was renamed F when the letter scheme was implemented. Later changed to Carpenter Street Station. Now defunct. Len Piszkiewicz and Harvey Karlen record many types of postmarks for this station.
